Make: Wireframing + prototyping

After some brainstorm and drawing initial user scenarios, I started making initial wireframes.

I'm making an app where customers can collect coins (sort of loyalty card) . With these coins they can reward their waiter or use it for themselves. A study from Demoulin and Zidda (2008), where they investigated the impact of loyalty cards on store loyalty, showed that holders of a loyalty card are more loyal and less price sensitive when they are satisfied with the reward scheme. INITIAL WIREFRAMES

The waiter has to scan the QR-code from the customer. Giving the reward is not spontaneous enough, there's no fun. So I started brainstorming again to make this more fun.

WIREFRAMES (2) There is a sign on your table with a QR-code you need to scan. This QR-code is linked with your table and the things you order. You collect coins in the app each time you order something. With the coins you collect you can drink something for free but you can also give it to your waiter. At the exit of the bar there's a board with photos of all waiters. Here you can scan your waiter and give coins. The waiter receives a notification of your reward. The waiter also collect coins. He can use these coins to drink something for free in participating cafés. It's clear that design principle 2 is missing: Verbale communication needs to be present when giving a reward.

IMPROVED WIREFRAMES I based myself on the app 2dehands, to solve the problem of the verbal communication. In this app you can 'review' to one who bought someone from you with +- 7 items you can indicate. Such items are: friendly, keeps appointment, paid quickly,... So after scanning the waiter and giving a reward, the customers have the option to indicate some positive points. In that way the waiter receives some 'compliments' for his service.

WIREFRAMES TO TEST

Of course there were still a lot of functionalities that where missing in my improved wireframes. Below you can find the final low fidelity prototype with all the screens of the app. So it's time to test it out and see where we can improve. I also changed the concept of the feathers. The proverb 'een pluim op je hoed steken' (dutch) means giving a compliment. But i though it wasn't strong enough. I came up with the slogan 'create a feel food moment at your local bar'. The goals of the app is that customers give the waiters an extra reward by sharing their coins. In a study conducted by Anik, Aknin, Norton & Dunn (2009) happiness was measured between people who spend money on something for themselves or people who spend it on a gift for someone else. Results showed that the participants that spent their money to someone else where happier at the end of the day. So it's true that giving makes you happier. So when sharing coins with the waiter would make you happy and would create a feel good moment!
